When you sign up with email, Polymarket and Magic each hold one key of a 2-of-2 multi-sig. Neither can move your funds alone. You access the wallet by logging in with your email; under the hood, Magic reconstructs your half of the signature. For casual users this is fine; for serious capital, migrate to MetaMask self-custody.
